Task 01: Cloud Storage There are a number of cloud storage services (such as ADrive, Microsoft SkyDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, and Box) designed to allow individuals to back up files online and share specific files with others; specialty online storage services designed for digital photo sharing include Flickr, Photobucket, and Snapfish.
For this task, visit at least three cloud storage sites designed for backup and file exchange, and at least two sites designed for digital photo sharing. You can try the sites listed above or use a search site to find alternative sites.
1. Tour your selected sites to determine the features each service offers, the cost, the amount of storage space available, and the options for sending uploaded files to others.
2. Do the sites password-protect your files, or are they available for anyone with an Internet connection to see?
3. What are the benefits for using these types of storage services?
4. Can you think of any drawbacks?
5. Would you want to use any of the storage sites you visited? Why or why not?
6. At the conclusion of this task, prepare a short summary of your findings.
Task 02: Printer Shopping Printers today have many more features than a few years ago. These features may include improved quality, more memory, photo printing capabilities, digital camera connectivity, built-in flash memory card readers, wireless connectivity, and faster speed. For this task, suppose you are in the market or an online store (mention the name and URL of store) for a new personal printer. Make a list of the most important features needed to meet your needs, and then research printers to identify the best printer for your needs. Be sure to consider both the price of the printer and the price of consumables (such as paper and ink/toner) in your evaluation process. At the conclusion of your research, prepare a one-page summary of your findings.
Task 03: New OSs There have been a number of new operating systems developed in the past few years, such as Android 7.0, Apple macOS High Sierra, Windows 10 and Google Chrome OS. For this task, select one new or emerging operating system and research it.
1. What is the purpose and targeted market for this operating system?
2. What advantages does it have over any current competition for this market?
3. If the operating system was developed to fulfill a new need, are there other operating systems that are being adapted or being developed as a result?
4. Do you think your selected operating system will succeed? Why or why not?
